Requirement

Opal Property Group is one of Vaioni’s first customers and we helped Opal deliver one of the first internet access systems to their accommodation buildings. Opal built a new site of over 600 rooms which required cabling and a LAN for internet access. This building was already built and the requirement was to cause as little disruption as possible as this is a new building and was occupied. Cabling needed to be dual 100mb to each room and 1GB from the riser back to the comms room.

Solution
Vaioni designed and installed the entire cabling infrastructure. We deployed CAT5 cable to each room and Gig copper from each riser to the comms room. Over 40 hatches needed to be cut in order to run the cabling to each room with little disruption. Several thousand metres of cable were deployed with around 1000 outlets.

Vaioni then deployed over 20 switches to create a fast ethernet and GB based LAN. This provided internet access through a 100mb leased line circuit to the vast majority of the students. Vaioni provided the design, installation and support to a range of 2900 and 3500 switches.

Since then Opal have added another building to this site above, totalling the number of serviced rooms to over 1000. Vaioni deployed the entire solution, including a 100mb wireless radio link between the new building and the existing so it may be serviced for internet access.
